PIRES (Partners in Restoration of Environment for Sustainable Development) is a community based initiative that works with communities to restore and promote environmental conservation activities in Kenya. PIRES was founded by Patrick Muthomi Samuel and Catherine Nyaboke in 2017, while visiting Meru in Central Kenya and after return of Patrick from advanced studies in the United Kingdom(UK). The two met with communities and appreciated the inspiration of young people to restore the deforested areas of Ruiri, Kithima and Kanjai areas in Tigania and Buuri constituencies in Meru county. This was after a decade of shortage of rains, poor harvests and erratic rains with erosions affecting he productivity of the soil.
WHAT WE DO
A lot of seedlings has been grown by this group. These seedlings are later transplanted from the nursery to the place where environmental reclamation is to be done.

“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
― Theodore Roosevelt
